The model

How the fee works

Three simple rules that keep pricing honest for everyone on the platform.

A single fee

A flat 10% booking fee, paid to Impact once the carpenter accepts. The carpenter’s labour is paid to them directly. No subscriptions, no listing costs, no hidden charges.

Paid only on acceptance

You are charged once the carpenter accepts the booking, so you never pay for a job that does not go ahead.

Carpenters keep their rate

We take no commission from a carpenter's pay. Their full rate is passed through to them, every time.

What the fee covers, and what it never does

No surprises. Here is exactly what your platform fee pays for, and what you are never charged.

  • Search, booking and scheduling tools
  • Secure card payment for every booking
  • Messaging, reviews and dispute support
  • Clear invoices for every booking

What you never pay

  • No markup on the carpenter's labour
  • No commission taken from carpenters
  • No monthly subscription to list or book
  • No charge for declined or cancelled requests
  • No hidden fees, ever

Pricing questions

The things people usually want to confirm about how the fee works.

How much is the platform fee?

Impact charges a flat 10% booking fee, paid once the carpenter accepts. The carpenter’s labour is paid to them directly. The calculator above shows the exact fee for any job.

When am I charged?

Only once the carpenter accepts your booking. If a request is declined or cancelled before acceptance, you are not charged anything.

Do carpenters pay anything?

No. Carpenters keep one hundred percent of their rate. Impact never takes a commission from a carpenter's pay, and labour is paid to them directly.

Is there a subscription or joining cost?

No. Listing a profile and browsing is free. Companies pay per booking when they hire, so there is no monthly cost and no lock in.

How is payment made?

You pay Impact the booking fee by card once the carpenter accepts. The carpenter’s labour is arranged and paid directly with them, outside the platform, so Impact only ever handles the booking fee.

What about cancellations?

Because the fee is only charged on acceptance, you are never left paying for a booking that does not proceed. If you need to cancel before work begins, you can do so from your dashboard.
